Ten good reasons you should come out & vote Tuesday March 15, 2011 on these important Proposals / Propositions

PROPOSAL NUMBER ONE, PROPOSITION NUMBER ONE

Shall the general village election be held on the third Tuesday in June of each year, commencing June of 2012?

  • Coincides with the Village's fiscal year and follows the budgeting process more closely.
  • Better weather will allow for increased interaction and information exchange between candidates and voters in the months and weeks leading up to the election.
  • Better weather should increase voter turnout.

PROPOSAL NUMBER TWO, PROPOSITION NUMBER TWO

Shall the terms of office for all the Village Trustees positions be increased from two years to four years beginning with the elected term of 2012?

  • Will not take effect until June 2012 and have no effect on the March 15, 2011 election.
  • Save taxpayers money by cutting the number of elections in half (it costs taxpayers approx. $6,500.00 per Village election).
  • Trustees can concentrate on Village matters uninterrupted by election campaign requirements for three and half years instead of every year and a half. This will enable the Village to have improved functional continuity in government and permit more effective use of resources.
  • If approved, the transition will allow Trustee Crouse and Trustee Sutz to serve an additional three months before the next election in June 2012.

PROPOSAL NUMBER THREE, PROPOSITION NUMBER THREE

Shall the term of office for Village Mayor be increased from two years to four years beginning with the elected term of 2013?

  • Will not take effect until June 2012 and have no effect on the March 15, 2011 election.
  • Save taxpayers money by cutting the number of elections in half (it costs taxpayers $6,500.00 plus per Village election).
  • Mayor can concentrate on Village matters uninterrupted by election campaign requirements for three and half years instead of every year and a half. This will enable the Village to have improved functional continuity in government and permit more effective use of resources.

BY LAW, THE MAYOR AND VILLAGE BOARD CAN ADOPT THESE THREE PROPOSITIONS BUT WANT VOTERS TO MAKE THE DECISION FOR THEMSELVES.
